The Detroit Red Wings gave up two quick goals and never recovered, falling 3-1 to the Anaheim Ducks.

Ryan Whitney scored just one minute into the game on a puck that deflected of Brad Stuart. Later in the first period, Kyle Chipchura scored a reviewed goal that deflected off his hand and into the net. Anaheim extended that goal run to three when Bobby Ryan scored. With just ten seconds left in he second period, Pavel Datsyuk scored to put Detroit on the board.

Just like the beginning of the season, this was a case of Detroit outplaying their opponent and falling to a goalie. Anaheim was five points back from the Wings, but moved up to three in the playoff picture. Calgary bumped Detroit back out of the playoffs although the teams are tied at 64 points and 147 goals for. Calgary has 28 wins and Detroit only has 27.

In Play! Man of the Game: Jonas Hiller. Hiller was forced to make some huge saves and came up big two or three times to keep Detroit at bay. Hiller made 46 saves on Detroit’s 47 shots.
