Detroit’s Brian Rafalski Nets Two, USA Destroys Norway

After setting up the play that led to Patrick Kane putting Team USA up to a three goal game, Brian Rafalski scored two goals in the last three minutes to put the USA over Norway 6-1.

Rafalski, who’s been rather quiet offensively this season for the Red Wings, should have had an assist on the Patrick Kane goal, at least he would have if it’d been in the NHL, but in international hockey you have to actually be on the ice to get credit for an assist. Rafalski had skated to the bench before the goal was scored.

It seems that Team USA is going to stick with the top defensive line of Ryan Suter and Rafalski. Team USA also only allowed 11 shots against Ryan Miller who stopped 10 of them.

This was a big win for the USA as they will not see action again until Sunday when they take on Team Canada.

Speaking of Team Canada, more Olympic updates to come tonight when Canada takes on the Swiss and Russia takes on Slovakia.
