Slovakia has upset Sweden, meaning two metal favorite teams are now out of the tournament. With this upset, Russia and Sweden have gone home and only the medal favorite Canada remains.
The best kept secret coming into these games was the Slovakian team, but with names like Marian Hossa and Marian Gaborik, it’s hard to understand why. This Slovakian team now has upsets of Russia and Sweden under their belts and will face Canada Friday to see if they can make it three upsets.
On the other side, Finland will play the USA. While there were no doubts Finland would be staring down the medal platform coming into the games, no one expected Team USA to make the Semi-Finals. With a huge upset over Canada, and a weak game against the Swiss yesterday, Finland would be the favorite coming into this game. However, Finland looked equally bad, if not worse, than the USA did in their game. So this one is anyone's game too.
So if you’re trying to predict the medal games, In Play! suggests you should try your hand at the lottery. You’d have better odds.
