RED WINGS DEPART FOR CAMP TODAY…
Defense of 11th Stanley Cup Begins With 11th Annual Traverse City Camp …Detroit, MI…The Detroit Red Wings begin preparations for the defense of the franchise’s 11th Stanley Cup this Thursday, Sept. 18 when the team departs for Training Camp from the Joe Louis Arena.

The following day (9/19), the entire Detroit team will hold a charity golf outing and dinner at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. On-ice workouts run from Saturday, Sept. 20 through Tuesday, Sept 23. Players will be divided into three teams named ABEL, DELVECCHIO and SAWCHUK, with the first group taking the ice at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Monday’s schedule includes a 4:00 pm practice followed by a Gold Medal game at 6:00 pm. On Tuesday, the Wings place a twist on the traditional “Red vs. White” game by renaming the Training Camp’s final two teams HOWE and LINDSAY. The TEAM HOWE vs. TEAM LINDSAY GAME will begin at 6:00 pm at the Center ICE Arena. The Red Wings will depart for Detroit immediately following the game.
