Alexander, "Dirty O,” Ovechkin Strikes Again – Gets Third Game Misconduct

Any time a Chicago Blackhawk goes down it’s beneficial to the Detroit Red Wings, but when the injury is a result of one of the NHL’s biggest stars, you know Dirty “O” was probably involved.

And that’s what happened yesterday when Chicago’s Brian Campbell was sent head first into the boards from behind by Ovechkin. Ovechkin, who’s arguing his case to the NHL today, clearly hit Campbell, who was about six feet away from the boards, from behind. Dirty “O” was given a five minute major for boarding and a Game Misconduct.

This is the third time this season Ovechkin has been tossed from a game and he’s already served a two game suspension for a knee to knee collision. Ovechkin, who claims he did nothing wrong because he didn’t drive Campbell into the boards, is facing the league to see if he’ll receive another suspension.

Campbell, who wasn’t driven into the boards but was shoved awkwardly by Ovechkin into them, reportedly suffered a broken collarbone and some broken ribs. He will likely not return until after the first round of the playoffs.
