… Veteran Goaltender Has Appeared in 87 Career NHL Games …
Detroit, MI… The Detroit Red Wings today announced that goaltender Joey MacDonald, 31, has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL). In five appearances with Grand Rapids this season, MacDonald has amassed a 3-2-0 record to go along with a 1.98 G.A.A., a .935 SV% and one shutout.
In 87 career NHL games with Detroit, Boston, Toronto, and the New York Islanders, MacDonald has earned 23 victories in addition to a 3.19 G.A.A. and a .902 SV%. Last season, the Pictou, NS native went 5-5-3 with the Red Wings while registering a career-best G.A.A. of 2.58 and a SV% of .917. Detroit re-signed MacDonald to a two-year contact extension this past summer.
Currently 5-1-0 on the 2011-12 campaign, the Red Wings will face the Blue Jackets in Columbus tomorrow night prior to returning to Detroit to ready for a Friday night home game versus the San Jose Sharks (puck drop – 7:30 p.m.).
