… Goalie Off to a Strong Start in the OHL this Season …
As a member of the Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s, Mrazek has registered a 2.84 G.A.A. and a 0.916 SV% to go along with a 50-26-2-3 record in 90 career appearances since being chosen by the club in the first round (30th overall) of the 2009 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft. The 6’1”, 184-lb. netminder won the F. W. Moore Trophy as the freshman goalie with the lowest G.A.A. in the OHL in 2009-10 after wrapping up his rookie major junior campaign with a mark of 3.00 in 30 games. Detroit subsequently selected the Ostrava , Czech Republic native in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
In eight starts for the 67’s this season, Mrazek has earned five victories while posting a SV% of 0.925 and a G.A.A. of 2.34, tops in the OHL amongst goaltenders with at least 450 minutes of playing time. Prior to his tenure in Ottawa , Mrazek was a member of HC Vitkovice in the Czech Extraliga’s U-20 Development Program where he won a league championship in 2008-09.
