Mike Commodore Placed on 7-Day Injured Reserve List

RED WINGS RECALL BRENDAN SMITH FROM AHL

Detroit, MI… The Detroit Red Wings today announced that defenseman Brendan Smith, 22, has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL). Detroit has also placed veteran blue-liner Mike Commodore, 31, on the 7-day injured reserve list.

Currently 1-0-0-0 on the season, the Red Wings will battle the Colorado Avalanche later tonight (9:00 p.m. – FSD & 97.1 The Ticket) in their first road game of 2011-12. Detroit’s next home game is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. versus the Vancouver Canucks.

The first 7,500 fans in attendance for this match will receive a free Pavel Datsyuk bobblehead compliments of AT&T.
