RED WINGS RECALL BRENDAN SMITH FROM GRAND RAPIDS

Detroit, MI… The Detroit Red Wings today announced that defenseman Brendan Smith has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL).  Smith, 22, appeared in four pre-season games for the Red Wings this year, recording 0G-2A-2P.

Detroit (2-0-0) will be looking to continue their red hot start to the 2011-12 NHL campaign on Thursday, October 13 (puck drop – 8:00 p.m.) when the Vancouver Canucks (1-0-1) pay a visit to Joe Louis Arena for an early-season battle between reigning division champs.
