Detroit, MI… Detroit Red Wings netminders Jimmy Howard and Joey MacDonald will sign autographs on Wednesday, March 7, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hockeytown Authentics in Troy to raise money for two Metro Detroit charities.

By making a $20 donation by cash or check only, fans can get one item signed by both goaltenders. All donations will be split between Howard’s charity of choice, the Arthritis Foundation, and the non-profit selected by MacDonald, Operation: Kid Equip.

Wristbands for Wednesday’s autograph signing will be issued at Hockeytown Authentics starting at 11:30 a.m. A maximum of 500 wristbands will be handed out prior to 5:00 p.m. and those who receive wristbands may begin to line up for the autograph signing no earlier than 4:00 p.m. A wristband will get fans one autograph from Howard and one from MacDonald.

Detroit, MI… The Detroit Red Wings today announced that goaltender Joey MacDonald, 31, has been reassigned the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) after dressing as Ty Conklin’s backup in Columbus last night. In five appearances with Grand Rapids this season, MacDonald has amassed a 3-2-0 record to go along with a 1.98 G.A.A., a .935 SV% and one shutout.

In 87 career NHL games with Detroit, Boston, Toronto and the New York Islanders, MacDonald has earned 23 victories in addition to a 3.19 G.A.A. and a .902 SV%. Last season, the Pictou, NS, native went 5-5-3 with the Red Wings while registering a career-best G.A.A. of 2.58 and a SV% of .917. Detroit re-signed MacDonald to a two-year contact extension this past summer.

Currently 5-2-0 on the 2011-12 campaign, the Red Wings will next face the San Jose Sharks on Friday, October 28 at Joe Louis Arena (puck drop – 7:30 p.m.). As part of the ongoing ‘Fathead Fridays’ promotion, all fans in attendance for this intraconference showdown will receive a free Niklas Kronwall Fathead Tradeable.

Detroit, MI… The Detroit Red Wings today announced that goaltender Joey MacDonald, 31, has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL). In five appearances with Grand Rapids this season, MacDonald has amassed a 3-2-0 record to go along with a 1.98 G.A.A., a .935 SV% and one shutout.

...Veteran Netminder Has Played in 87 Career NHL Games…

Detroit, MI... Detroit Red Wings Executive Vice President and General Manager Ken Holland announced today the club has agreed to terms with goaltender Joey MacDonald on a two-year contract.  In accordance with team policy, additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.

MacDonald, 31, appeared in 15 games for Detroit last season, posting a 5-5-3 record with a career-best 2.58 GAA and a .917 SV%. He notched his second career shutout with a sparkling 37-save performance in a 2-0 win at Columbus on March 17. A backup to both Jimmy Howard and Chris Osgood in 2010-11, MacDonald made 74 saves on 76 shots (.974 SV%) in six relief appearances for the Red Wings.  He also played in 20 games for the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) last season, finishing with a 10-9-1 record, 2.78 GAA and .894 SV%.

MacDonald was originally signed as a free agent by Detroit on December 21, 2001.  The Pictou, Nova Scotia, native has appeared in 87 career NHL games with the Red Wings (23), Boston Bruins (7), New York Islanders (51) and Toronto Maple Leafs (6).  He holds several Grand Rapids team records including most career wins (98), most career shutouts (17) and best SV% in a single season (.936 in 2003-04).  MacDonald and fellow Griffin netminder, Marc Lamothe, won the Harry “Hap” Holmes Memorial Trophy in 2002-03 allowing the fewest goals against in the AHL that season.

… Starting Goaltender Jimmy Howard Day-To-Day With Sprained Shoulder …

Detroit, MI... The Detroit Red Wings today announced that goaltender Thomas McCollum has been recalled from the Toledo Storm of the East Coast Hockey League. McCollum will serve as Joey MacDonald’s backup tonight when the Red Wings host the Chicago Blackhawks at Joe Louis Arena (7:30 p.m. ET on Versus and 97.1 The Ticket).

McCollum, 21, returns to Detroit for his second stint with the Red Wings this season. The Amherst, NY, native also served as Detroit’s second-string goalie during a 6-5 overtime win on January 15 against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He has split time this season between the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL (20 GP, 6-11-2, 3.18 GAA) and the Toledo Storm of the ECHL (23 GP, 11-9-2, 2.76 GAA). McCollum was Detroit’s first round selection (30th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Detroit’s starting goaltender, Jimmy Howard, is currently listed as day-to-day after suffering a shoulder sprain during Saturday night’s 4-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Red Wings also recently placed veteran goaltender Chris Osgood on injured reserve as he continues to recover from groin/sports hernia surgery.

Detroit, MI...  The Detroit Red Wings today announced that goaltender Joey MacDonald 

has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.  MacDonald will serve as Jimmy Howard’s backup tonight when the Red Wings host the Vancouver Canucks at Joe Louis Arena (7:30 p.m. ET).

MacDonald, 31, has appeared in twelve games for Detroit this season, posting a 4-4-2 record. 

He currently leads all Red Wings goaltenders with a 2.10 GAA and .926 save percentage.  To clear a roster spot for MacDonald, the Red Wings have placed veteran goaltender Chris Osgood (groin) on injured reserve.

Detroit, MI… The Detroit Red Wings today announced that veteran goaltender Chris Osgood has been removed from the team’s Injured Reserve List. Osgood, 38, has missed 27 games since undergoing successful sports hernia surgery in January. The Red Wings have also announced that 30-year-old netminder Joey MacDonald has been reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL).
