Red Wings’ Pavel Datsyuk Gets Selke Trophy; No Calder Trophy for Jimmy Howard

Pavel Datsyuk has won his third consecutive Selke Trophy, awarded to the best defensive forward in the NHL, on the same night he failed to receive his fourth straight Lady Byng Trophy for gentlemanly play. Datsyuk, who led the NHL in takeaways for the regular season, finished the season with twice as many penalty minutes than Lady Byng winner Martin St. Louis, who had finished second to Datsyuk the last three seasons.

Jimmy Howard also failed to secure his first NHL trophy as Buffalo’s Tyler Myers took home the Calder Trophy on Wednesday night. Howard was an underdog in the race for rookie of the year due to being eight years older than Myers.
