...Physical Forward To Stay In Hockeytown Through 2011-12…

Detroit, MI... Detroit Red Wings General Manager Ken Holland announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Todd Bertuzzi on a two-year contract. In accordance with team policy, additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Bertuzzi, 35, was originally a first round draft pick (23rd overall) of the New York Islanders in the 1993 National Hockey League Entry Draft. In 2009-10, he finished with 44 points (18-26-44) and 80 PIM in 82 games for Detroit. He was one of only three Red Wings to play in every game last season (Lidstrom, Stuart). He also added a career-high 11 points (2-9-11) for Detroit in the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

“We were really happy with what Todd brought to our team last season,” said Holland. “He added a physical dimension, became a solid net-front presence and fit in real well with the guys in our locker room. We’re excited to have him back.”

The 14-year NHL veteran has 668 points (273-395-668) and 1,301 PIM in 941 career games with the New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks and Detroit Red Wings.
