Chris Osgood tallied win number 398 in his career as the Detroit Red Wings delivered Nashville’s second regulation loss with a 5-2 victory at Joe Louis.
Pavel Datsyuk was first on the board tonight on a wide open shot in front of the net. Brad Stuart followed with his first of the season. Joel Ward brought the game within one before Datsyuk netted another goal then Tomas Holmstrom and Patrick Eaves followed. Kevin Klein scored the final goal for Nashville.
Detroit was off to a better start than Thursday’s game in which they gave up 3 goals in 12 minutes. Datsyuk looked great tonight while Patrick Eaves chipped in offensively and Ruslan Salei got his first and second points of the season, both on Datsyuk’s goals. Justin Abdelkater, who replaced the healthy scratched Jiri Hudler, also looked great in his first start of the season.
In Play! Man of the Game: Pavel Datsyuk. Datsyuk had two goals and an assist putting him one point (11) behind Henrik Zetterberg (12).
