Toronto Picked to Host World Cup of Hockey in 2016. More on the IPM website.

“The
return of the World Cup of Hockey is great news for hockey fans everywhere and
especially for fans in Toronto and Canada,” said Larry Tanenbaum, Chairman of
MLSE and NHL Governor. “This event will not only shine a spotlight on this great
game and its stars, but it will also bring a very positive economic impact for
the city and its businesses.

We’re thrilled to be selected as host for the World
Cup and want to thank Don Fehr and the players, as well as Gary Bettman, Bill
Daly, John Collins and the NHL for believing in Toronto. We also owe a great
deal of thanks to the Mayor’s office in Toronto, both to Norm Kelly as former
Deputy Mayor and John Tory as Mayor, for all of their support in helping bring
the World Cup of Hockey to Toronto in 2016.”
