RED WINGS REASSIGN GUSTAV NYQUIST TO GRAND RAPIDS

... Forward Returns to Griffins Still Leading AHL’s Scoring Race …


Detroit, MI... The Detroit Red Wings today announced that forward Gustav Nyquist has been reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Nyquist appeared in two games for the Red Wings during his recall, registering an assist and three shots on goal in 12:12 of ice time on Mar. 13 against the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome and one shot on goal in 15:04 vs. the Edmonton Oilers on Mar. 15 at Rexall Place. The Halmstad, Sweden, native was a healthy scratch Saturday night for the final game of Detroit’s three-game swing through western Canada, a 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena. Nyquist has appeared in four games for the Red Wings in 2012-13, collecting seven shots on goal, one assist and a -1 rating. In 22 career NHL games with the Red Wings, Nyquist has registered eight points (1-7-8).

Nyquist, 23, was selected by Detroit in the fourth round (121st overall) of the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft. He returns to the Griffins where he currently leads the AHL in scoring with 60 points (23-37-60) in 57 games played and paces all Grand Rapids players in goals (23), assists (37), points (60), power-play goals (9) and shots on goal (166).
