The Detroit Red Wings have signed Drew Miller and Patrick Eaves to one year contracts. Eaves first signed with Detroit last summer while Miller was acquired on waivers early last season. While neither player was much of a force on offense last season, both players found a place on the penalty kill.
Now that Detroit has signed both Eaves and Miller it looks unlikely that Kirk Maltby will be a Red Wing come October. Maltby’s place on the team is identical to Eaves and Millers and the cash-strapped Wings can’t afford to overload on one type of player.
