The Detroit Red Wings announced today that defenseman Chris Chelios has suffered a fractured right tibia and will be out of the Detroit lineup for three to six weeks. Chelios suffered the injury while blocking a shot during the third period of Tuesday night’s game against the Montreal Canadiens.Chelios, 46, is entering his 25th season in the National Hockey League and his 10th as a member of the Detroit Red Wings. He signed a one-year contract to remain in Detroit on September 9th. His 1,616 career games played ranks first all-time among American born players and sixth all-time in NHL history.
