… Detroit Faces the Rangers at New York’s Madison Square Garden Later Tonight … Detroit, MI...The Detroit Red Wings today announced that goaltender Ty Conklin has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Conklin, 35, has made 12 appearances with the Griffins since being assigned to Grand Rapids on February 21, posting a record of 8-4-0 in addition to a 2.40 GAA and a SV% of .915. The 6’1”, 185-lb. netminder appeared in 11 games for Detroit earlier this season, earning three victories to go along with a 3.40 G.A.A. and an .878 SV%. Conklin is 94-66-16 (2.68 GAA, .906 SV%) in 211 career NHL games with Detroit, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Columbus and Edmonton.
Currently 44-25-4 on the 2011-12 NHL campaign, the Red Wings will square off with the Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers (45-20-7) later tonight at Madison Square Garden (7:30 p.m. – NBCSN & AM 1270). Detroit will next play at Joe Louis Arena on Saturday night (puck drop – 7:00 p.m.) versus the Carolina Hurricanes.
