Detroit Red Wings are Expected to set a Franchise Record by Making Their 21st Consecutive Playoff Appearance This Spring
Detroit, MI… The 11-time Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings are on the verge of clinching a playoff berth for the 21st straight year, setting a team record for consecutive post-season appearances in the process. Detroit tied their previous franchise high of 20 straight playoff appearances (originally set from 1938–39 through to 1957–58) last spring and appear poised to eclipse the mark in 2011-12, currently ranked fourth in the Western Conference (44-25-5) with eight games remaining on their regular season schedule.
In anticipation of Detroit’s highly-impressive streak continuing unabated, tickets to the first two home games of the Red Wings’ 2012 Stanley Cup Playoff run will go on sale to the general public this coming Saturday, March 24, beginning at 12:00 p.m. noon. At that time, Red Wings fans will be able to purchase tickets for each of the team’s first two opening round home contests versus a to-be-determined opponent at the Joe Louis Arena Box Office.
