Wings Losing Streak Continues

Blowing a two goal lead would have been nice tonight as the Red Wings were just plain blown out 5-2 in Minnesota by the Wild.

The Wild’s Antti Miettinen and Detroit’s Pavel Datsyuk traded goals back and forth in the first period. That streak was ended by Andrew Ebbett and the first ended 3-2 in favor of Minnesota. After taking the second period off, Minnesota came back with a quick pair of goals from Guillaume Latendresse and Martin Havlat.

Detroit dressed six defenseman for tonight’s game, but none of them had an impact in the game. Nicklas Lidstrom did have a pair of assists, but the Wild were wide open all night. Chris Osgood was left to the mercy of the Wild, which has not forgiving. The Wings just seem to have an voracious way of losing games this season. Brad Stuart left tonight’s game and Brett Lebda didn’t play because of an upper body injury, although last night he was icing his hip flexor after the game.

In Play! Man of the Game: Pavel Datsyuk. Datsyuk started strong but later in the game didn’t make a huge impact. He, along with Cleary and Lidstrom, were the only players to have two or more points and be a plus 2.
