On March 11, 2008, Detroit Red Wings forward Dallas Drake appeared in his 1000th career NHL game during a 3-1 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks at Joe Louis Arena. Drake earned his 300th career assist on Kirk Maltby's first period goal to give the Red Wings a 1-0 lead.
