… Swedish-Born Goaltender has Appeared in 107 Career NHL Games with the Maple Leafs …
Detroit, MI...The Detroit Red Wings today announced that free agent goaltender Jonas Gustavsson has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the team. In accordance with club policy, additional terms of the deal will not be disclosed.
Gustavsson has been a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs for the past three seasons, amassing a record of 39-45-15 to go along with a 2.98 GAA and .900 SV% in 107 appearances with the Eastern Conference club. The 27-year-old native of Danderyd, Sweden has also made five career starts in the American Hockey League, going 3-1-1 for the Toronto Marlies while registering a 1.14 GAA and a SV% of .955.
Prior to his tenure in Toronto, Gustavsson won the Guldpucken Award as the Swedish Elite League’s top player in 2008-09 after leading the league in SV% (.931) and GAA (1.96) prior to backstopping Färjestad BK to a Le Mat Trophy as SEL champions. The 6’3”, 192-lb. netminder also led Team Sweden to back-to-back bronze medals at the 2009 and 2010 IIHF World Championships and represented his country at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
