Dtroit Red Wings lose to Chicago Blackhawks in Shootout

By AJ Petronzi

The Detroit Red Wings lost to the Chicago Blackhawks in overtime in the last regular season matchup between the NHL’s greatest rivalry before Detroit moves to the Eastern Conference.

Viktor Stalberg opened scoring in the second period. Johan Franzen and Cory Emmerton put the Wings up 2-1 until Jonathan Toews tied the game with under three minutes left in the third. Brandon Saad scored the winning goal in the shootout.

Detroit has to average at least a point from every game left against a playoff team, and that’s how they played this game. It looked as if from the puck drop they were playing for overtime. Once overtime started, both teams looked as if they were just trying to get unscathed to a shootout.

In Play! Man of the Game: Corey Crawford. Crawford kept Chicago alive during Detroit's few pushes and held fast in the shootout to gain Chicago the season sweep of Detroit.
