OHL to Present Annual Award in Honour of Mickey RenaudWindsor, ON - The Ontario Hockey League and Windsor Spitfires today announced in a press conference prior to the 2009 Subway OHL All-Star Classic that a new league award will be presented annually in honour of Mickey Renaud.
The “Mickey Renaud Captain’s Trophy” will be presented each season to the OHL team captain that best exemplifies the character and commitment that Renaud displayed during his career with the Spitfires. The winner will be one of the 20 OHL member team captains and will be selected by a special media selection committee.
“The Ontario Hockey League is very proud to take this opportunity to honour the memory of a young man that meant a great deal to the league, the Spitfires and his community,” said OHL Commissioner David Branch. “Mickey set a very high standard for the commitment, character and community spirit that is necessary for a team captain and provides a great example for his peers.”
