TIGERS AGREE TO TERMS WITH ADAM EVERETT
Shortstop Agrees to One-Year Deal with Club
DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with shortstop Adam Everett.
Everett was limited to 48 games with the Minnesota Twins in 2008 due to two separate stints on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain and right shoulder tendinitis. He batted .213 (27x127) with two home runs and 20 RBI for the Twins.
“We are pleased to add Adam Everett to the Tigers organization,” Tigers President, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager David Dombrowski said. “Improving our defense was a priority for our club this winter and we feel Adam is one of the top defensive shortstops in the game.”
A veteran of eight seasons at the major league level with the Houston Astros (2001-07) and Twins (2008), Everett has compiled a .976 fielding percentage at shortstop during his career. A first-round selection by the Boston Red Sox in 1998, he has hit .246 (558x2272) in 697 games at the major league level.
